Before reading the article, take a moment or two to think about what “Health” means to you. What is the definition of health for you?
“Health” is defined in the Turkish Language Association as “the individual being in a state of complete physical, social and mental well-being, physical well-being, pleasure, and health”.
Let’s take a look at ourselves, rate your answers to the test below:
1 is the worst score, situation, feeling etc..
5 is the best score, situation, feeling
1. Among the things you call your values, your must-haves, and your importance, how many points do you give to “health”?
2. An energetic and healthy physical body: How are your emotions and physical condition when you get out of bed? Do you think “Wow, here we go again” or “Here we go!! A new day” and feel joy, excitement, and curiosity for the new day? How are you when you get up? Are you energetic, energetic, or do you start reluctantly, with difficulty and pain in your joints (waist, neck, back, etc.)?
3. At the end of the day: Do you go to bed feeling sweetly exhausted from the day, or do you crawl into bed and throw yourself into a state of “oh my gosh, how am I going to brush my teeth?” state of complete exhaustion?
4. Do you have a calm, clear and joyful frame of mind? Do you look to the future with hope, think of the situations you experience as a learning experience, or do you have a victim-like feeling (“It always happens to me”), always think negatively, have feelings of failure, always look for blame outside or in yourself, saying “Everything is hard, it’s his/her fault, it’s that person’s fault”, and therefore struggle with judgmental and right/wrong thoughts?
5. Do you have a heart full of love and compassion, do you wrap yourself up by saying, “It’s okay, today happened like this, you can do better tomorrow”? Can you say to your son/daughter, “This is how it happened, I see you’re upset, what’s left with you now? What can I do for you, what is it that you need?” Can you say to your mother or father, “They gave me as much as they knew. As a mother/father, I understand this now”? Can your heart expand in this way? Or do you have a heart that you constantly judge, blame, beat yourself up by saying, “Can this be done?” Do you have a heart that you treat the ones you love the most roughly, but gets hurt out of kindness to those you don’t know?
6. Are you struggling with anxiety about the future, a feeling of emptiness, all kinds of excuses, and not being able to make sense of why you are here, or do you have your own dreams, a mission and vision, and yes, even if the country you live in is experiencing difficulties, can you move yourself forward with hope towards the vision you see?
With the answers you give to these questions, you can determine where you need support. I say support because a coach is actually a person who accompanies you as you move from your current situation to the current situation you want to reach. A healthy life coach is actually a change agent in its most concise form.
Habit change is the basis of a healthy life. Habit change does not have to be difficult.
For example, changing the granulated coffee you buy to a lightly roasted coffee bean is taking a small step towards health.
If you go to bed at 12, try 11.45 as the first step.
If you do not move at all, start by walking for just 5 minutes.
If you need support on your path to health, we are here.
